SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is hosting a 5-day long Junior and sub-Junior National Alpine Ski Championship from February 11 at world famous ski resort Gulmarg, for the first time.
The competitions, under the aegis of Winter Games Federation of India, will be held in Slalom and Giant Slalom events at Gulmarg and Kongdori.
“Nearly 200 competitors and officials of different states of the country are expected to participate in the championship,” president Winter Games Association of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Shah said.
Shah said Jammu and Kashmir shall field two teams comprising 64 athletes in both boys and girls categories. He added that there are four age groups in each category.
He informed that the Association shall approach some business houses too for providing financial support.
