SRINAGAR: The Srinagar-Leh national highway, connecting Ladakh region with the rest of the state, will be thrown open for light motor vehicles on April 5, subject to favourable weather conditions, officials say.
The 434-km highway remains closed from late November due to heavy snowfall.
Work to restore the road link has already been started.
Minister of State for Science and IT Feroz Ahmad Khan who took stock of the clearance operation on Monday appreciated the efforts of Border Roads Organisation authorities, the administration of Ganderbal district for it.
