JAMMU: At least six people have been wounded in fresh clashes with the police in Kishtwar where three people have died in communal violence since Friday last.
They include two policemen.
Local residents defied curfew and took to the streets in the town and staged protest against the arrest of a youth for his alleged involvement in riots.
They tried to march towards the Hidyal area of the town when police fired into the air and lobbed tearsmoke shells to disperse them.
In Kishtwar, an indefinite curfew has entered its fourth day today and the Army is still out.
The protesters blamed local MLA Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo, who resigned today from his post of the Jammu and Kashmir Minister of State for Home, for the disturbances in the area. They also slammed a DSP for targeting innocent youths.
Meanwhile, four other policemen were injured last night in Kishtwar when unknown miscreants attacked their vehicle and set it on fire, news agencies report.
The attack in the Shalimar area took place late last night as the policemen were travelling from Doda to Kishtwar.
The miscreants set the vehicle on fire and took away 10 wireless sets from the cops, police said.
