SRINAGAR: Senior separatist leader and chairman of the hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for a three-day shutdown across Jammu and Kashmir to protest killing of Muslim protestors by BSF soldiers in Ramban.
The other faction of the Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq has called for a tw-day strike while the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front has given call for a one-day strike on Friday.
Malik condemned the sacrilege and the killings as “one of the biggest crimes committed by terrorist forces of India in Kashmir”.
He has asked people to converge at Lalchowk (the main city centre in Srinagar) for a protest rally.
The chairman of the Hurriyat Conference headed by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq has also called for protest demonstrations after Friday prayers.
The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman and senior separatist leader Shabir Ahmed Shah has also called for a strike.
The shutdown call has also been given by the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema or a united forum of Islamic scholars.
