SRINAGAR: The Executive Director of Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) has accused minister of Public Health Engineering (PHE) of vendetta.
The CCDU is responsible for quality check for water in Srinagar and Jammu and a probe team constituted by the PHE minister has found irregularities worth Rs 12 crore there.
“Since I happen to be a relative of the former PHE and I&FC Minster, Taj Mohidin, the present minister Sham Lal Sharma is trying to settle his political scores at the cost of my image and working,” CCDU Executive Director Mir Najeeb said in a press conference today.
He alleged that the probe report has been furnished “under the guidance of the PHE Minister simply to settle political scores with his predecessor, Taj Mohidin.”
“This whole drama is being staged to cover-up the lapse committed by the Minster in his erstwhile Ministry,” he said.
Najeeb was referring to the infamous spurious drugs scam in Kashmir hospitals unearthed recently. The drugs were purchased during Sharma’s tenure.
He said the organization is open to any independent of impartial inquiry through house committee to look into the working of the organization “so that the reality is brought to the fore.”
The PHE minister could not be reached for comment.
