SRINAGAR: A strict curfew remained imposed in Shopian and Kulgam districts of south Kashmir on Sunday for the second day after CRPF firing killed four people in Gagren village.
Police and the paramilitaries were deployed in full strength across the town to prevent violence.
Protestors made several attempts to disrupt curfew at many places, a local news agency, KNS reports.
However, Deputy Commissioner of Shopian, Bashir Ahmad Bhat said the situation remained by and large under control.
He added that the curfew was likely to continue on Monday also.
Meanwhile no separatist organization has called for a strike on Monday.
Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani said his amalgam had called for a strike on Sunday only.
