National Geographic to promote destination Kashmir

SRINAGAR, July 26: Next time you tune-in to the National Geographic channel don’t be surprised to find Kashmir’s Dal lake and Ladakh’s Stupas among the most beautiful destinations to visit.

With tourists, including foreigners, coming in record numbers the state and union tourism ministries have hired the services of prominent television channel National Geographic to run a promotional film about the beautiful places of the state.

Government officials said that the film will be telecast in different channels for the knowledge of people across the globe and the National Geography Channel has been assigned the job of ensuring its success.

The preliminary screening of the film was put to screening in the presence of Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora and Minister of State for Tourism, Culture and Home, Nasir Aslam Wani besides various officers.

The film focuses on the natural beauty of the State, with main focus on the captive tourism products and services, art, culture, heritage and adventure spots including Buddhist culture.

An official spokesperson said professional film makers have prepared the film which was now in its final phases of completion.

The film will also be used in travel and trade marts, road shows, exhibitions to showcase and promote the rich tourism potential of the state at national and international levels.
