SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has been adjudged as the first runners-up of BBC’s travel magazine awards this year.
The scenic region of lakes, meadows and conifer forests, known as the playground of Himalayas, was chosen second in ‘Emerging Destinations in India’ category of Lonely Planet Magazine India Travel Award, official sources told PTI.
Gujarat emerged as the winner, while Arunachal Pradesh was awarded the second runners-up.
An expert panel shortlisted an exhaustive 42 categories, which was put to vote to worldwide readers of the famed magazine.
