SRINAGAR, Nov 3: Amid the prevailing LPG mess in the state, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday surrendered two of the three gas connections which were registered under his name.
“As promised two of the three LPG connections surrendered this morning,” Abdullah wrote on social networking site twitter.
Abdullah recently came under fire after media organisations reported that Abdullah had three connections while ordinary people continued to suffer for want of cooking gas.
“Fair enough. Didn’t realise I had 3 connections under my name. Will surrender 2 of those connections 1st thing tommorow,” Abdullah tweeted after the reports.
Kashmir is grappling with shortage of LPG after a cap on subsidised cylinders was announced recently. Moreover, with cold weather having begun in the region, the paucity of gas is adding to the woes.
The government yesterday told the High Court that the Himalayan province was short of 6,000 cylinders against a demand of 18,000 cylinders per day.
