SRINAGAR, June 20: The Jammu and Kashmir government Wednesday asked the Centre to fund the enhanced incentives under Prime Minister’s package for the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants.
The state cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, approved a proposal to enhance the incentives for Kashmiri Pandits willing to return to the Valley, an official spokesman said.
“The cabinet recommended the proposal for enhancement of package of incentives for funding to Government of India under the Prime Minister’s package for the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants,” the spokesman said.
He said the state Revenue department has also been ordered to work out an employment package for those members of the minority community who did not migrate from the Valley.
Meanwhile Kashmiri Pandits Sangarsh Samiti (KPSS)-an organisation of non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits- have expressed satisfaction over the proposal.
“KPSS express gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister and State Cabinet for approving the extension of PM’s Job Package to the Non-Migrant Kashmiri Pandits who stayed back in the Valley and faced all odds with the rest of the Society,” a spokesperson said.
