SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police busted a gang of burglars and recovered stolen property worth lakhs of rupees in apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir, a police spokesman said here this afternoon.
He said during the intervening night of April 26th and 27th this year burglars broke into a textile shop M/S Wani Textiles at Chankhan and decamped with clothing merchandise worth lakhs.
A case was registered in Tarzoo police station and investigation started. During the investigation, police received a tip-off regarding Irshad Ahmad Bhat for being involved in burglaries.
He was arrested and during his questioning he confessed that he along with his associate Tariq Ahmad Naikoo had broke into the shop and taken away the clothes.
The arrest of the duo led to the recovery of stolen property of the textile shop. During further questioning, their involvement in other cases of theft and burglary also surfaced.
They identified other members of the burglary gang as Mohammad Saleem Sheikh alias Jaha, Aatif Aijaz Shah, Abdul Rashid Bhat, Bashir Ahmad Malla, Sajad Ahmad Dar, Bashir Ahmad Baba and Mohammad Rafiq Kana.
At their instances, police was able to recover fifty wedding suits, one hundred twenty copper utensils including Samavar, plates and Lemon Sets, two Computer Systems with accessories, three Gas cylinders, seven pairs of Shoes, Kiryana items including Edible Oil, Tea, Turmeric, Chili powder, one transformer and one motor during different raid in Sopore.
All the burglars were arrested and simultaneously five cases of burglaries were solved, he said.
