SRINAGAR: The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has sought a factual report from the Director General of Kashmir police and Deputy Commissioner, Shopian on the killing of four persons in firing by paramilitary CRPF at Gagren village on Saturday.
The SHRC has taken suo-moto cognizance of media reports of the incident, member SHRC, Rafiq Fida told a local news agency, KNS.
“The print media has highlighted the unfortunate incident which took place in Shopian where four young boys were deprived of their life by unwarranted, indiscriminate firing by CRPF at Gagran Shopian.”
“The allegations on the face of it are grave human rights violation. The Commission cannot lose sight of alleged repeated Human Rights violation committed by security forces day in or day out,” Fida said, quoting the SHRC directive.
“Let reports be called from, DGP J&K, Deputy Commissioner Shopian. All affected persons can approach and assist the Commission by filing correct and detailed statement of facts regarding the incident so that the actual position can be presented in its true prospective.”
