Court Verdict ‘Victory’ of Justice, Say Separatists

“Court verdict has raised hopes that many innocent youth who have been incriminated in false cases would also get justice.”

SRINAGAR: The separatist amalgam, Hurriyat Conference, has termed the court judgement in the case of a Kashmir teenager’s killing as a “victory of righteousness and justice”.

The court on Thursday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against two policemen in the case of Wamiq Farooq, who died after he was hit by a teargas shell in 2010.

The Hurriyat, led by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, praised the efforts of Advocate Aijaz Ahmad and other members fighting the case.

It said the court verdict has exonerated Wamiq of stone pelting charges and blamed police for his death.

“The verdict has thus strengthened the hurriyat’s stand that the police and Indian troops were involved in fabricating stone pelting charges against the innocent youth to arrest them,” a statement by the party said, adding, “it were they (police) responsible for the targeted killings of kashmiri youth.”

The party said the court verdict has raised hopes that many innocent youth who have been “incriminated” in false cases would also get the same treatment as was done in this case.

“The APHC has offered khiraah-e-Tehseen to wamiq’s father, Farooq Ahmad for showing patience and for following the case.”
