SRINAGAR: An IAS officer was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) on charges of corruption.
He has been released on bail and the court has allowed him to resume duty.
Baseer Ahmed Khan is at present deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar district, but he was arrested in Srinagar by the SVO police station.
The SVO brought prosecution against him in the court of the special anti-corruption judge.
The IAS officer has been accused of illegally transferring government land at the tourist resort of Gulmarg in violation of rules governing its preservation and development.
Investigations into the case have been going on for the last four years. Another senior IAS officer, now retired, has also been charged, alongwith half a dozen other state government officers and employees.
The prosecution said that the nexus of officials had conspired to allot land to some influential businessmen for construction purposes.
