TANGMARG, Aug 20: Eid festival was marred for a family in northern Kashmir’s tangmarg area when a woman died after being hit by a vehicle while returning from her fields.
Witnesses said 35-year-old Gulshana was hit by a vehicle of the security forces near Kunzar bridge on Srinagar-Gulmarg highway Sunday evening and died at a Srinagar hospital.
A police spokesperson said, “A Tata 407 troop carrier of IRP 16th Bn. B-Coy Camp Kunzar, Tangmarg on way from Magam to Tangmarg hit a pedestrian lady Gulshana who was referred to SKIMS, Soura, where she succumbed to her injuries.”
As soon as her dead body was brought back, infuriated protestors raised slogans over mosque loudspeakers, witnesses said.
The deceased lady is survived by three daughters. Police has registered a case.
