Valley to Remain Under Curfew on Friday

SRINAGAR: Authorities have decided to impose curfew in Srinagar and other major towns of Kashmir valley on Friday in view of tension over killing of protestors in Ramban area by BSF.

The district head or deputy commissioner, Srinagar, Farooq Shah told Freepress that the entire capital city will be under a curfew tommorow.

Authorities say the curfew will be imposed in all major towns to prevent violent protests and subsequent deaths in view of outrage over the killings in Ramban district.

Seven people are reported killed after the Border Security Force fired at demonstrators protesting against the sacrilege of the holy Quran in Gool village.

There has been no official word about the incident or the casualties from the government so far.

Separatist leaders have called for shutdown for three days to protest the incident. A senior leader and chairman of the pro-Independence JKLF has asked people to converge at the Lalchowk (Red Square), the city centre of Srinagar on Friday.
