SRINAGAR, Nov 21: The hardline faction of Hurriyat conference on Wednesday termed the hanging of 2008 Mumbai attacker, Ajmal Kasab, as a case of selective justice and accused New Delhi of having double standards while dealing with human rights violations in Kashmir.
Kasab was charged of attacking a series of targets in Mumbai which killed 166 people.
He was hanged early this morning in great secrecy at Yerawada jail in Pune city.
Ayaz Akbar, the Hurriyat spokesperson said justice demanded that those responsible for killing innocent civilians in staged gunbattles in Kashmir valley, where militants and security forces have fought for more than two decades now, be punished.
“If Ajmal Kasab killed innocents and they hanged him then why don’t they hang those responsible for fake encounters like Machil and Pathribal. Their guilt has been established and they have been identified.
How come they are roaming free and holding high posts in the establishment,” Akbar told a news agency.
