I’m a patriot, media misquoted me: Mustafa Kamal

SRINAGAR, Nov 14: Additional general secretary of the mainstream National Conference party and uncle of chief minister Omar Abdullah has said that his comment that “India was the biggest enemy of Kashmir” was misquoted and taken out of context by the media.

This comes a day after Abdullah showed his dejections at Kamal’s comements. “I don’t need anyone to make things difficult for me when I have relatives. They say never work with animals and children. I think it is safe to add relatives to that list,” he wrote on social netweork, twitter.

Media reports had quoted Kamal as saying that “India was the biggest enemy of Kashmir” and that the security forces came with vested interests and were denying peace to the region, where more than two decades of violence are now giving way to normalcy.

Kamal has reiterated that he was being “unfairly targetted” and that he was a patriot. “I made a comment in a particular context and this has been misinterpreted. I am being victimised.”

He also said he will continue to supprt his nephew and chief minister, Abdullah.

“He has proved his mettle. His detractors are making things difficult for him, doing things to embarrass him,” he said.
