SRINAGAR: Keeping the option open for coalition in 2014 General Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said the Congress supported the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and National Conference (NC) and now can form the government with the help of either of them.
“We supported the PDP in 2002 and ran the coalition government for six years,” Mr Azad told reporters on the sideline of a function here today.
He said the PDP led the coalition with us for three years and the Congress headed the coalition during next three years before the general elections in 2008.
“Later, with our (Congress) support the NC is heading the coalition in the state,” he said adding the government has completed five years.
The former chief minister said the Congress has now emerged as a strong party in the state.
“We can form the government in 2014 with the help of NC or PDP,” he said, “keeping the option for next coalition open.”
