SRINAGAR: Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Mohammad Yaseen Malik was today taken into preventive custoday along with ten others when he was on way to Shopian with relief material.
Mr Malik and some other senior party leaders alongwith supporters today left JKLF headquarter here this morning, carrying three truck loads of relief material for the resident of Shopian, where curfew was lifted after fifteen days.
However, when the JKLF leaders and trucks reached near Pampore, about 12 km from here , police stopped them.
After an argument, police finally agreed to allow relief material for Shopian.
However, Mr Malik and about ten others were taken into preventive custody.
Four senior leaders of the front, including Noor Mohammad Kalwal were allowed to accompany the relief material to Shopian for distribution among the residents there, who are facing acute shortage of essentials because of curfew restrictions.
