SRINAGAR: The World Health Organization (WHO) has offered technical support to Jammu and Kashmir government for universalization of health care system.
It has also underscored the need to make the state polio free with special concentration to cover the remotest and border areas under the full coverage of immunization programme.
An official spokesman said that the WHO representative in India, Dr. Nata Menabde met the Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan on the side lines of 3-day long National Summit on ‘Best Practices and Innovations in Public Health care System’ today at SKICC.
“The WHO representative appreciated the Jammu and Kashmir Government for introducing Pentavalent Vaccine in its immunization programme, besides the new initiatives taken up for universalization of health care facilities in the State,” the spokesman said.
Menabde said that WHO desired to help the state in capacity building of manpower to render best services in annihilation of contagious and non-contagious diseases. She also suggested for encouraging upgradation of health care facilities under private sector in the State.
The minister gave a detailed brief of the steps taken by the State Government for universalization of quality healthcare facilities in the State. He expressed his gratitude to WHO for offering technical guidance to the government in improving quality health care facilities.
