SRINAGAR: Weather remained pleasant in Kashmir valley although the minimum temperatures have dropped.
A weather department spokesman said the weather will improve from this evening.
The upper reaches of the valley received light to moderate rains Saturday night.
Gulmarg, the famed ski resort in north Kashmir, about 55 km from here, was coldest with minus 3 degrees against yesterday’s 0.2 degree.
However, it was still a notch above normal.
Pahalgam, base camp of Holy Amarnath cave shrine, in south Kashmir recorded minus 0.5 degree, four degrees warmer than yesterday.
Pleasant weather continued in the summer capital, Srinagar, though the minimum dropped by about three notches. Against yesterday’s 8.4 degree, it was 5.8 degrees, the Met spokesman said.
The night temperature remained above normal in other parts of the Kashmir valley.
People in Ladakh region continued to shiver as the minimum temperature remained below freezing point.
The border town of Kargil on the National Highway, connecting the Ladakh region with the rest of the state, recorded the lowest minimum temperature – minus 9.2 degree Celsius, while in Leh it was minus 2.2 degrees.
