SRINAGAR: Six budding cricketers from the state have been selected for a six-week advanced coaching camp at Virender Sehwag academy.
The selected ones left for New Delhi on Monday, an official spokesman said.
The cricketers hailing from Srinagar, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian districts were part of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL).
The youngsters were seen off at a function organised at Air Field in Srinagar by Youth Services and Sports Minister R S Chib.
“The boys would attain exposure. The youth here have vast potential and the government has initiated concerted efforts for proper development of sports activities in the state,” Chib said.
He said in the last three years the government succeeded in regaining the value of sports in the valley.
“Kashmir Premier League is the visible example of it in which over 3000 matches were played in 10 districts of the valley last year,” he said.
