SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council has passed a bill seeking setting up of village courts in a bid to speed up justice delivery in rural areas of the state.
An official spokesman said the ‘Dehi Adalats’ (Rural Courts) Bill, introduced by Minister for Law, Mir Saifullah, was passed by the Council through a voice vote.
The lower house of the assembly had passed the bill on October 8.
The bill will now be sent to Governor, N.N. Vohra for his assent.
