SRINAGAR: Normal traffic will resume on the National Highway, connecting the Kashmir valley with rest of the country, from tomorrow.
The route to Ladakh region of the state will be put through next month as massive snow clearance operation is on from both sides of Zojila pass.
An official spokesman said two-way traffic will be resumed on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway from Monday.
However, only passenger vehicles and oil tankers will be allowed to ply from both sides, he said adding that trucks and other load carriers would ply on one-way till further orders.
Only one-way traffic was allowed to ply on the highway to avoid any accident and traffic jam following heavy snowfall on December 16.
Roads leading to far-flung and remote areas, including Gurez, Dawar, Neeru, Keran, Karnah, Machil, Teetwal and other areas near LoC are closed since December last year due to snow.
The authorities had been arranging plames tp airlift stranded passengers from these places from time to time.
However, people at Dawar and Bandipora alleged that they were stranded for the past one week.
An official told the United News of India that 838 stranded passengers have been airlifted from these cut off areas in the valley since January this year.
He said 438 passengers were airlifted from Bandipora to Dawar, Neeru, Budu-aab and Kanzalwan while about 400 from Gurez area to Bandipora during the said period.
