SRINAGAR: Two kids of an Imam (prayer leader) have been slaughtered at Bemina area of Srinagar on Wednesday morning.
The Imam’s wife was also found with her throat slit and is struggling for life at a hospital, police sources said.
A resident of border town of Gurez in north Kashmir, Iftekhar Ahmed led prayers at the Iqbalabad mosque in Bemina. His family lived with him.
His two kids were reportedly aged two and four years. They were found lying in a poll of blood, with their throats slit.
All the three member of the Imam’s family were shifted to a hospital where the children were declared brought dead.
It is not clear who could be behind the incident.
Reports say that preliminary investigations by the police have made the Imaam himself a suspect.
Police have registered a case of murder.
Forensic evidence is being collected to nab the murderer(s).
