SRINAGAR: A group of tourists who fell into the Dal Lake after their boat capsized due to high winds have been rescued.
Police and locals swung into action and saved the visitors, residents of the West Bengal state.
“Atanu Chatterji, his wife Poornama Chatterji and their child Arpan Chatterji and Sirpa Dass, wife of Gopal Dass and her son Anuraj Dass from West Bangal, Kolkata, were rescued,” a police statement said.
They were on a pleasure ride in a Shikara boat when it capsized due to a sudden, short wind storm in the city.
Police say they used rescue motor boats to save the tourists who were later sent to their hotel.
