SRINAGAR: The District Magistrate (DM) Shopian in south Kashmir has extended the time period for recording of statements or sharing of information about killing of five people, allegedly in security force firing at Gagran on September seven and 11.
DM Bashir Ahmad Bhat was appointed as inquiry officer to conduct a probe into these killings.
Mr Bhat had announced to record statement from September 16. However, nobody turned up for recording statement during the first three days mainly due to curfew restrictions in Shopian since September 11.
About five witnesses turned up yesterday and recorded their statement before the DM.
An official spokesman said the date has been extended by one week upto September 28 in view of the prevailing law and order situation in the town.
