SRINAGAR: Inquiry officer, appointed to investigate the killings of five people allegedly by security forces on September 7 and 11 at Gagran in Shopian, has extended the date for recording statement of eyewitnesses and others till October 5.
The government has appointed District Magistrate (DM), Shopian, Bashir Ahmad Bhat to inquire into these killings. Initially nobody had come forward to record his or her statement before the DM about the incident.
However, later the DM recorded the statements of more than six people about the incident.
According to the DM, time period for interested persons who want their statements recorded regarding the firing incident that occurred at Gagran, Shopian, has been extended up to October 5, 2013.
The interested persons can visit the office of DM between 1100 hrs to 1500 hrs on any day up to October 5.
Four persons were killed when CRPF allegedly opened fire near Gagran camp on September 7 while a school bus driver died after security forces opened fire at Gagran on September 11 when people were demanding shifting of the camp from there.
Police has registered FIR in both these killings.
However, police claimed that one of the four persons killed on September 7 was a militant of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) Abdullah Haroon.
