BARAMULLA: Three school children are among four people injured after angry youth threw stones at a bus ferrying students who took part in an Independence Day function in north Kashmir.
Kashmir valley is observing a shutdown over a call by separatists who urged people to observe the day as “Black Day”.
In north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, students of Government Middle School, Uri were going home after participating in a government funtion at Police lines in the town when they were attacked with stones.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police North Kashmir, J.P.Singh told a local news agency CNS that three children besides the bus driver were injured in the incident at Khanpora bridge.
He said that the police have identified the stone pelters and a hunt has been launched to trace them.
Meanwhile, parents have alleged that police did not bother to provide a security cover to their children.
“Police took pains to bring them to Barmaulla and left at the mercy of the God soon after the function was over,” one of the parents said.
