SRINAGAR, Aug 25: Six people have died and over a dozen injured in separate incidents of suicide and road accidents in Kashmir valley, police say.
They said a 15-year-old girl, whose name they have withheld, committed suicide by consuming poison at her home in North Kashmir’s Kreeri area Friday evening.
Also, they said, 50-year-old Khursheeda Begum, wife of Muhammad Ashraf Sodan of Chandanwari in northern Kashmir’s baramulla district ended her life by jumping into the river Jehlum.
Meanwhile three person died and fourteen others were injured in different road accidents across the valley, they said on Saturday.
Haroon Rashid, 26, a resident of hawal in Srinagar died at a hospital in north Kashmir’s Pattan after a Santro car he was travelling with two others collided with a Tata Sumo.
In the same district, a 50-year-old pedestrian, Ghulam Mohammad Sofi died after a passenger bus hit him at Kreeri on the National Highway.
Another person Naseer Ahmed Hakla of Rajouri district died after his Alto car skidded off the road at south Kashmir’s Shopian. Another passenger in his car, Ishrat Jan was injured.
Another eleven people were also injured in separate tarffic related incidents, police said.
Meanwhile, the dead body of an 18-year-old girl was recovered in Central Kashmir’s Budgam District Friday evening, they said.
Locals spotted the body of a girl (name withheld) in the field between Sholipora and Sarthapora villages.
Police have registered cases in all the incidents and have begun investigations.
