SRINAGAR: Seven people including four kids were killed in various mishaps across Kashmir valley, police say.
Sameer Ahmad sheikh and Dawood Ahmad sheikh, both aged 6, were bathing in the river Jhelum when they drowned at Sheer colony in northern Kashmir’s Sopore.
Police say efforts are on to trace them.
A labourer from Punjab state, Surinder Lal, 22, also drowned in the Jhelum at Sangam in south Kashmir, they said.
Two persons, including a five year old boy, died of electric shocks.
Saqib Ahmad Najar, 5, of Noorbagh area of Srinagar was electrocuted while fiddling with an electric equipment at home. He was shifted to SMHS hospital where he breathed his last.
Also, a 24-year-old man, Adil Ahmad Shah was electrocuted while he was watering an under-construction mosque in Gulzarpora area of south Kashmir’s Avantipora. The water had come into direct contact with an overhead electric supply cable.
Shah died on way to a local hospital.
Meanwhile, two people died in separate road accidents in the valley.
A three-year-old boy, Junaid Rashid Malik was hit by a tractor in Kupwara district of north Kashmir. He was shifted to the Medical Institute in Srinagar where he succumbed.
Another tractor hit and injured Abdul Hamid lone in Kreeri area of Baramulla district. Lone died on way to hospital.
