SRINAGAR: The Government will provide Rs one crore each to every district for improvement of transmission lines in Jammu and Kashmir.
Minister of State for Technical Education and Power, Vikar Rasool said every un-electrified village of the state would be provided with electricity very soon.
The Minister was addressing the officers during a review meeting of Power Development Department (PDD) here today.
The Minister said in order to make an improvement in the transmission and distribution system of power an amount of Rs one crore would be provided to every district for improving the high tension and low tension line distribution.
He said it would go a long way in ensuring that the distribution of the power is done and losses are also compensated.
Mr Vikar directed the officers to complete the first phase of the Rajiv Gandhi Gram Vidyut Karan Yojana (RGGVY)within one months’ time so that the next phase of the same can be taken up to ensure that no village in the State remains un-electrified and is provided with adequate power supply.
He said under RAPDRP scheme the augmentation of the electricity and its allied things would be done which would go a long way in ensuring proper supply of electric power in the major cities and towns of the State.
While directing the officers to speed up the revenue realization, Mr Vikar said the targets fixed for an area should be completed as soon as possible.
He said an effective monitoring system should also be put in place, so that the maximum revenue is collected with regard to the power being consumed and maintained that strict action would also be taken against those which fail in achieving the targets being assigned to them.
Mr Vikar also asked the officers to put in place an effective mechanism by which the transformer damages can be checked and ensuring that the damaged ones are repaired within the shortest possible time.
He also directed for reducing the feeder losses and rotation of the field staff at regular intervals.
