SRINAGAR, June 29: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Friday appealed to businessmen to resume commercial activity in the valley from tommorow (Saturday).
“We respect the faith and sentiments of all the people, but we request them to open their shops and start trade and other commercial activities in the valley,” President of KCCI, Abdul Hamid Punjabi said.
“We know we were mourning the loss of one our our most revered shrines which we loved, but we have to move on,” Punjabi said.
The KCCI president said the five days of disruption, particularly the four days of shutdown and curfew had proved detrimental to growth of businesses in the valley.
Punjabi has also offered to support in the reconstruction of the shrine.
“We would love to provide monetary support for the reconstruction of the Dastgeer Sahab shrine, but let’s understand that life has to go on and we have to resume our trade and commercial activities,” he said.
Punjabi also appealed to the authorities to not impose restrictions on the movement of people so as to facilitate the opening of shops in uptown srinagar and elsewhere.
