SRINAGAR: Rain in plains and snow on higher reaches could occur during the next 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir, where the famed ski resort of Gulmarg continued to remain the coldest area.
On Thursday people in the valley woke up to cloudy weather after witnessing above normal night temperatures.
A Met department spokesperson told the United News of India said light to moderate rain or thundershowers could occur at a few places over plains in the state during the next 24 hours.
However, the upper reaches could experience snow, he said.
Gulmarg with minus 3.6 degree celsius minimum temperature, 2.6 notches below normal, remained coldest in the region. It was four notches colder than Leh in Ladakh region, where border town of Kargil recorded minus 1.2 degree minimum temperature.
Elsewhere in the Kashmir valley, the minimum temperature remained one to three degree above normal.
The spokesperson said light rain or thundershowers could occur tomorrow in Srinagar while in Leh the sky will remain cloudy.
