SRINAGAR: Senior separatist leader Muhammad Yasin Malik arrived in New Delhi Saturday from Pakistan amid protests by right wing activists outside the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
However, contrary to speculations of his arrest on arrival, the chairman of the pro-independence JKLF was not arrested or questioned by any of the security agencies, one of Malik’s associates in Delhi told a news agency KNS over phone.
Malik will depart for Srinagar on Sunday, he said.

There were demands from many quarters that his passport be seized upon arrival, for meetin Saeed, who is accuse to have mastermined the Mumbai attacks that killed nearly 200 people.
Meanwhile, tension prevailed in civil lines areas including Maisuma and Badshah Chowk as rumours of Malik’s arrest spread here. Agitated supporters of Malik protested and incidents of stone pelting were also reported.
