SRINAGAR: A student of eighth class had to be admitted in a hospital with neck injuries after his principal beat him up at school on Friday in the Kashmir capital Srinagar.
Student of a private school in Hyderpora area, Mehrab Mushtaq Wani, 14, reportedly cracked a joke in the school playground when his Principal caught him.
“He did not like it and thrashed me ruthlessly with a stick and kicked me like football. He repeatedly hit my neck and back and spared me only when I fell unconscious,” he told a local news agency, CNS.
Mehrab was admitted to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital with a swollen right arm and neck.
Doctors have advised him to use a collar. “His left arm is fractured as well,” the boy’s father, Mushtaq Ahmed said.
Mr Ahmed also accused the school principal of threatening to discharge his son “in case I reported this incident to anyone.”
Despite repeated attempts the accused Principal could not be contacted.
