SRINAGAR: Militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) has claimed that Shakeel Ahmed, one of its arrested members who died in a grenade attack on a vehicle shifting him to jail, was actually killed by the Jammu and Kashmir police.
A local news agency CNS reports that the Hizb Spokesperson Baleeguddin “condemned the act”.
“He was arrested by Indian Security Agency last year and was killed in fabricated attack. Shakil had come know about the secrets of Indian Security Agencies during his detention and Kashmir police was afraid that after his release he might pass on information to HM militants,” he said.
The agency reports that Baleeguddin called the incident “planned”.
He said that Shakil was not only the body guard of United Jihad Council Chairman Syed Salauhdin but an important member of his ‘Special Security Squad’.
“We are going to avenge the killing of Shakil Ahmed and others whom police kill in custody and in other fake encounters. HM will intensify now its attacks on Kashmir police and would avenge the killing of Shakil Ahmed,” Baleeguddin said.
