SRINAGAR, May 26: Police in Kashmir is encouraging released militants to set up Non Governmental Organisations (NGO) as part of their rehabilitation process.
“A one day workshop for released militants was organised by J&K Police at District Police Lines Baramulla on Saturday,” a police spokesperson said.
The workshop saw counselors, social workers and doctors of drug de-addiction centre interacting with 150 for militants who have been released after spending years in prison during the two decades of the armed conflict.
“It was aimed at assessing the psycho-social needs of the affected population and to draft a plan for long term intervention,” the spokesman said.
Authorities are of late taking steps for the rehabilitation of these militants and for inducting in the mainstream of the society.
“In the meeting it was decided that they released militants will identify the areas, where they need the help of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.”
