SRINAGAR: A day after the Jammu and Kashmir High Court dismissed a petition seeking ban on the usage of pepper gas and pellet guns against protestors in Kashmir, the Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq said it has decided to file a review petition.
“The legal cell of the APHC is exploring provisions of a review petition or filing an appeal against the High Court’s judgment in a few days,” Mr Farooq said.
In its judgment, the Court had said the all the petitioners, who had filed PILs in this matter, had oblique motives in their petitions.
It said that the prayers in the petitions cannot be accepted in view of the law laid down by the Supreme Court and their own observations.

In the petition Mirwaiz had referred to a youth Suhail Ahmad Khan son of Abdul Majid Khan of Khalid Colony Soura who according to him was critically injured after being hit by pellets fired by forces in old city.
Separately, another petitioner, Advocate Aijaz Ahmad, has said he will file a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court besides filing the review petition over the recently dismissed PIL.
