SRINAGAR, Sept 7: At least two people have died and nearly thirty wounded after a bus skidded off the road in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, witnesses say.
They say the driver of a Tata-407 passenger vehicle lost control near Hushru village and skidded off into nearby paddy fields. Ghulam Mohammad Najar and Ghulan Hassan Malik, both residents of Wagam, died while in hospital.
“As per our information, 22 injured passengers have been referred to various hospitals, three have been sent to sub-district hospital. Many others have also been taken to hospital by by-standers, so the total number of the injured could be more,” a police officer said.
The bus was on its way to the main market of Chadoora in the same district, he said.
Kashmir has been witnessing incessant rainfall after a long dry spell, making roads slippery and more prone to mishaps.
