CRPF vehicle pelted with stones
PULWAMA: Army and Para-military troopers swung into action on Thursday morning to remove black flags hoisted on the occasion of Independence Day in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A local news agency, CNS reports that a few youth hoisted black flags at different places in the district on Wednesday night. Different anti-India slogans like ‘Go India Go Back’, ‘We want freedom’ were seen written on these flags.
Thursday morning, they said, Army and CRPF personnel during a patrol removed these flags.
Kashmir valley is observing a shutdown over a call by separatists who urged people to observe the day as “Black Day”.
Meanwhile, a CRPF van carrying troopers from Pulwama to Pampore after August 15 celebrations came under attack near Samboora, Pampore.
Youth present alongside the roads pelted stones on the vehicle and damaged its windowpanes.
Eyewitnesses told CNS that CRPF personnel resorted to heavy tear smoke shelling to disperse the agitated youth who were raising pro-freedom slogans.
