Omar’s Govt Biggest Threat to Peace in J&K: PDP

SRINAGAR: Terming the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s slogan of “peace for prosperity” as another ‘hypocritical’ stance, main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday said that Kashmir Government itself had emerged as biggest threat to the peace.

Party president, Mehbooba Mufti said that the disturbing reports from Shopian and adjoining areas testify the fact that the State Government was deliberately subverting peace and disturbing lives of the citizens.

She said that a virtual reign of terror has been let loose in Shopian and “it seems that deliberate attempts are being made by the state government to alienate youth under a sinister design to keep them away from the genuine political and development process.”

“National Conference has done the same in Srinagar and other urban centres to reap the rich political harvest from the disturbed conditions,” she said, according to local news agency, CNS.

She added that people were trying to come out of the shocks after incidents like Gool and Bandipora, but the government was “deliberately” trying to disturb the situation.

“Wrong handling of the situation could snowball into a more serious situation and government would be squarely responsible for that,” she added.
