JAMMU: There will be no participation from Pakistan side in this year’s ‘dangal’ competition, which is an annual feature of the nine-day long Navratra Festival being celebrated in holy Katra town of the mountainous Reasi district.
“No Pakistani wrestler will be taking part this year in ‘dangal’ competition during the Katra Navratra festival, which is an annual feature,” President of Jammu and Kashmir Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma said.
He said the competition will be held on October 11 (seventh navratra) at Katra Sports Stadium.
“So far, grapplers from three countries including England, Ukraine and Belarus have confirmed their participation in the event,” said Mr Sharma.
The Indo-Pak ‘Mission Dosti’ wrestling event was started in 2007 in which wrestlers from across the world also started taking part later.
“The wrestling lovers will miss their favourite Indo-Pak bouts due to non participation of Pakistan grapplers,” he added.
Tension escalated between India and Pakistan due to continuous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control, beheading of five Indian soldiers in Poonch and recent twin militant attacks in Kathua and Samba districts.
