SRINAGAR: The authorities on Monday said there was no encroachment on the land attached to 448 temples in the valley.
Minister for revenue, relief and rehabilitation said this in the legislative council in winter capital Jammu.
He said in Kulgam the number of temples is 30, while the area attached is 38 Kanal and 05 Marlas.
“Pulwama has 47 temples occupying 103 Kanal and 14 Marlas of land.” He said in Islamabad district of South Kashmir there are 104 temples.
“In Shopian there are 19 temples and land attached to them is 40 Kanals and 19 Marlas.”
“Srinagar has 90 temples and attached to them are 456 Kanals and 5 Marlas,” he said.
Talking about the North and Central Kashmir, the minister said the frontier Kupwara district has 49 temples “having 213 Kanals and 15 Marlas of land. ”
“Bandipora has 7 temples which have 15 Kanals and 7 Marlas of land.”
Baramulla district has 57 temples and area attached to them is 107 Kanals and 7 Marlas, the minister added.
“In Budgam the number of temples is 30, having 27 Kanals and 12 Marlas of land.”
“In Ganderbal, there are 15 temples which possess land measuring 38 Kanals and 6 Marlas.”
