SRINAGAR: Warning moderate to heavy rain or snow during the next 24 hours, the Met department said Western Disturbance (WD) will touch the region, including Kashmir valley and Ladakh region tomorrow.
Meanwhile, with cloudy weather, the night temperature has improved in the region and the day become more colder with drop in the maximum temperature by several notches.
A Met department spokesman said here this afternoon that there would be light to moderate rain or thundershowers in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
There would be snow at higher reaches with increase in precipitation during subsequent two days, he said.
However, he warned of moderate to rather heavy rain or snow at isolated places in the state.
Due to cloudy sky, the night temperature has considerably improved in the valley and Ladakh. However, the days become colder.
Against yesterday’s minus 8 degree, coldest of the season so far, the minimum temperature witnessed about five degree increase at Leh after it settled at minus 3.3 degree.
Similarly, at border town of Kargil on Srinagar-Leh highway, the minimum temperature was minus 0.8 degree against yesterdays minus 6 degree.
The summer capital, Srinagar, also witnessed increase of a degree in the minimum temperature. Against yesterdays 1.2 degree, it was 2.4 degree. However, it was still a degree below normal.
However, due to cloudy weather and icy cold winds, the maximum temperature dropped further resulting in severe cold.
The maximum temperature yesterday, when sun played hide and seek, was recorded 15.4 degree, four degree below normal.
Met spokesman said maximum will drop further and settle at 12 degree tomorrow, about eight notches below normal.
He said there would be moderate rain or snow tomorrow in Srinagar.
Gulmarg, the world famous ski resort in north Kashmir and health resort of Pahalgam also witnessed increase in the minimum temperature, though it was still below normal.
