SRINAGAR: People’s Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti was taken into preventive custody in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Party chief spokesperson Nayeem Akhtar said Ms Mufti was on way to Shopian to express solidarity with the families of those killed in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) firing on September 7 at Gagran village.
However, police stopped her at Pulwama and detained her, Mr Akhtar said.
He strongly criticised the government for not allowing Ms Mufti to visit the families who lost their loved ones and also Shopian, where people remained confined in their homes because of curfew restrictions.
