SRINAGAR: When Bollywood film makers have rediscovered the beauty of Kashmir, why shouldn’t the TV serial waalas?
Producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary is all set to shoot in the Himalayan valley for his ambitious project – the Mahabharat.
The DNA newspaper reports that shooting for the serial is in full swing at Umargaon in Gujarat but in the later half of this month a few actors will fly to Kashmir.
“It will be shot in Pahalgam and a few other prominent locations. Kashmir has been chosen because the era of Mahabharat was considered heaven on earth and no other place can provide a lush green valley with snow-capped mountains,” it writes, quoting a source.
The crew will include actress Sayanti Ghosh who plays Satyavati, Sameer Dharmadikari who essays King Shantanu besides a few others.
Sameer, in a previous interview to the newspaper, had confessed that shooting in Kashmir was one of the major attractions for him in the serial besides playing Shantanu.
The last major serial to be shot in the Kashmir valley was Gul Gulshan Gulfam, way back in the early ’90s.
A telefilm was also shot here last year but this will be the first big serial to be shot there in two decades, the newspaper writes.
