SRINAGAR: Business and other activities remained paralysed as people refused to resume normal work in Shopian though authorities have lifted curfew restrictions after 11 days on September 22.
However, local organisations, heading the agitation in Shopian, including Beopar Mandal, lawyers and other traders are meeting today to decide furture course of action.
They are demanding total and immediate shifting of CRPF camp from Gagran, allegedly involved in the killing of five people on September 7 and 11.
They are demanding action against security forces involved in these killings.
The protesters are also demanding withdrawal of cases against youths, allegedly involved in stone pelting and release of those arrested so far.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads even after curfew restrictions were lifted on September 22 morning following improvement in the situation.
Transport also remained off the roads and work in government offices, banks and educational institutions remained affected.
The residents are demanding immediate shifting of CRPF camp from Gagran area, where four people were killed in the firing on September 7, forcing authorities to impose curfew next morning following massive protests.
The authorities lifted curfew for some hours on September 11. But reimposed the restriction after a school bus driver was killed in security force firing on demonstrators at Gagran.
The Government has already ordered shifting of the camp from Gagran besides an FIR was also registered in these killings.
The government has already ordered a magisterial inquiry, while the police claimed that one of the four deceased person was a Lashkar-e- Toiba (LeT) militant Abdullah Haroon.
