SRINAGAR, Aug 4: Traffic has been restored on the Srinagar-Jammu National highway which was blocked due to landslides along the route, Kashmir’s source of essential supplies from the rest of the country.
On Saturday, hundreds of vehicles were stranded along the route after heavy rains triggered lanslides at Msroos and Ramban area on the highway.
Personnel of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) have been put to work to clear the road, but rains are making the task difficult, officials said.
The road was cleared by late afternoon.
All essential supplies to the valley, including petroleum products, cooking gas, foodstuffs and other commodities, are brought into Kashmir through the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
